You were supposed to be a successful person as you were the best student in high school

and then you end up as a failure and in your mid 30s. Does anyone relate?

@YMITheWayIM Did you see a doc or something?
YMITheWayIM · 46-50, M
@switchfoot I discovered it accidentally. I did meet counsellors multiple times in later years.
Failure isn't a permanent situation. Deal with it and move on
@switchfoot I get it. But that'll pass. Stop letting it become a self fulfilling prophecy.

Giving up is the only failure

Dude - every day is Day 1 Year 1.
Unless your on a deathbed and the priest is there and the nurse is about to unplug the machine - you have the power to seize the world by the balls and make what you want of it. I would love the opportunity to be 31-35 again! Make a list, set attainable goals, get outside - do something!....and rule #1 - get off the internet! Live Now!!!

@luctoretemergo you are right in most of your facts I am similar age to the poster but have just retired from work, the internet though is extremely useful tool if used as a work tool in the modern world.

Success only comes from going from failure to failure without losing heart. You just have to keep going until you get that one moment that changes it. But you must be able to spot the opportunity and take it, then put the work into it to achieve it as well.

@Longleggedlady it's been more than an year now since I'm waiting and actively looking for any opportunity..

@switchfoot the only person that can change anything in your life is you. You have got to embrace that as a start, then as many have said you have got to get out their and do it one piece at a time, until you get to where you want to be in life. My husband would tell you people miss opportunities because they come dressed in overalls and look like work. Further the only person that often gets in our way in achieving is ourselves.
I am similar age to you my husband is older by 15 years but we are self made and have now both gone into retirement work wise.

Success comes in many different forms. You might be successful in other ways than what/who you're comparing it with now :-))
switchfoot · 36-40, M
@kimmy159 yeah but one needs money to pay the bills. I definitely have failed in that department.
iamelijah · 26-30, M
I wasn't mid 30s but I feel you.
switchfoot · 36-40, M
@iamelijah thanks

Thoughts are transient. Fleeting even. You are not your thoughts as nothing that comes and goes is us.
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
well what do you consider a failure
switchfoot · 36-40, M
@NiftyWhite being jobless at my age. Having quit a meagerly paying and very demanding job more than an year ago and failing to find a new one. Spending 10 years literally doing nothing in depression.

@switchfoot welllll .... time to hit the pavement and get going! What are you waiting for? You can do it! Make your life what you want it to be.
