I Survived Domestic Abuse

Wives are not the only ones who suffer at the hands of their spouse. I did my best to get along to be supportive and kind. I was the one what would always blame myself for all the problems. She knew I would never hit a woman and she took advantage of that. After 25 years of verbal, emotional and extreme physical abuse I left and never went back. After I left, I couldn't believe how wonderful life could be. It took a long time to recover from the PTSD, but 15 years later the terrifying flashbacks are very rare. So bottom line, don't always assume it is the wife that is getting abused.

hi luv2fish
i too suffered domestic violence for 9yrs (im female tho) my abuser ended up going to jail for threats to kill me...i had to have counselling and had a break down because of this bastard and have been single ever since (11yrs)
i was exactly the same as you...always blaming myself, i suffered emotional mental and physical abuse constantly, as well as intimidation and defamation of character to every one we knew...i ended up hating to come out of my house because of what people thought of me...my car was constantly smashed by him...he used to take all my food from my fridge and throw it down the street and he would call me a crackhead whore at the top of his voice so all the neighbours would hear....i had broken bones black eyes and strangle marks more times than i can remember...honestly hun i KNOW where you are coming from xxxx
