Most canings were administered in the headteachers' studies where we were either caned singly or with our fellow offenders.

Occassionally a large group would be caned. This was usually when teachers had made a concerted effort to catch smokers or there was a crackdown of lateness, uniform violations or some other petty rule.

In those cases, all those due to receive a caning would be assembled in the gym or the school hall. A few teachers would administer the canings. The number of teachers varied with the number of us to be caned.

We were all, boys and girls, caned in front of each other and our ages ranged from 11 to 18.

At my school CPs were administered in the front of the class. Many times there is a row a students (boys and girls) ready to pe spanked. In my (boy) high school, however, the cane was delivered in private.

Slipperings were administered in class or wherever we were caught if the teacher had a slipper to hand. We often had to queue up to be slippered too, especially when homework was due in. We also often had to queue outside the headteachers' studies waiting to be caned.

Maybe, here teachers considered a CP should be equally a deterrent for other students not to repeat the offence for which someone was punished. Each teacher could punish at his/her will. They used rules, switches and rods/canes. In my (boy) high school only the boarders were spanked, usually in private

Teachers here could punish at will too, often making up rules as they went along. :( To be fair, most of my teachers were reasonably OK although some slippered us for things that other teachers would ignore.

In primary (junior) school, we were sometimes slippered in the playground in view of parents, waiting to collect their children from infants' section, and passers by.

@Sharon: we had a teacher who would routinely cane us as we walked into his classroom. "What was that that for?" one guy asked.
"It's for what you're going to do." the teacher replied

@penguinswon: None of our teachers went that far but the PE mistress would always find some reason to slipper us.
