I notice that some users see Similar Worlds as being a "[u]purely anonymous[/u]" site.
At no point have we ever marketed SW as being [u]specifically for anonymous usage[/u].

What level of privacy a user chooses to have is purely up to them.

We do not ask of force anyone to submit: Actual Date of Birth, actual Name, etc...
Nor do we force you to submit actual photos of yourself.

If the Photo Verification or any other feature doesn't interest you, you can simply not use it.

Precisely this.

Each user can decide for themselves how much they are willing to share about their personal lives or identity.

Users are completely free to use Similar Worlds anonymously.


What we do not tolerate though, is stealing someone elses identity, then tricking/manipulating other users with that false identity.

Already since the release of our Photo Verification feature, numerous users who were doing this have been spotted, and further manipulation of users has been prevented.

I like that it is an option to set it to friends only, I would consider doing it now

i'm with you. i have no problem with site administrators seeing my face, but i value my anonymity. with my pic albums i can allow my friends to see but not show my face if i want. we'll see if i change my mind.

i did it too if for no other reason, the more people verify the more pressure on those who claim to be someone they aren't to come clear.
