@SimplyTracie Culture says to keep all of that inside you. Also we’re worried that our genetics might make a case for saying there’s no natives anymore or were too “diluted”. I don’t believe in that but chant trust the US govt with anything.

Is English an ethnicity?

@SimplyTracie Good point. Let's say British Isles area it was narrowed down to. But no particular ethnicity. At most you could go back to Celtic.

@SimplyTracie to be honest. I’ve done it with two different companies over the course of 10 years.

I’m desperate to extend one branch of my genealogy. It’s really interesting because one guy is a near match with the name I’m looking for but we can’t find a similar relative.

Then I did a 23andMe. Was I surprised? A little. The percentages were different than I expected. If you think about it, your grandparent gives you just 25% of your DNA. A great grandparent might have only given 5%.

My mom did a lot of work with genealogy (part of the reason I got the tests). Did it match up with her work. Yes.

I have heard of companies finding relatives. That’s awesome too.
