Thought about this for a good 10 minutes now, my initial reaction was as per Flenflyys but that does set you off from early on in life identifying a difference in people. There may be a reason for this request but I cannot think of it so for now I'm calling it colour prejudice.
(Chances are they are a white couple with an adopted child who think they are doing the right thing. Maybe.)

@GeniUs THAT is a very good point, it could well be a black child with no or few Black family or friends in the circle, with mindful parents,trying to do exactly what that I am secretly mentally accusing them of not doing...exposing a child to a wide variety of positive adult role models regardless of race. Thank you so much for that thought.
