I Have A Boyfriend

I have been dating a guy for 3 weeks. He has a 7 year old daughter and she don’t like me at all. She is a little witch and she is very rude to me and my daughters.
She has told me that I’m ugly and stupid. Ladt night when I gave the girls ice cream she said that she will never take anything from me.

I see somewhere on this thread you mention her mother lost her life in an auto accident.

I would say that she is probably coping with this terrible loss as best she can at that age. It's not every child that is as honest about how she's feeling.

Of course, you or I or any adult wouldn't understand how ghastly it must feel to live through the loss and see someone else matter of factly doing the sorts of things her beloved mom no longer is there to do.

She's got no need to be patient with you just yet. You could never expect to replace her mother but you can let her know that you wouldn't think to. Trusting a little kid that knows what she's feeling and isn't ashamed to show it is not easy I'll grant you.

Hoping she'll see something in you that makes your patience worth her kindness at some point is only something another young girl that became a mother could ever do. Most would block out such a powerful notion as imagine themselves in that kids shoes.

She was probably all adjusted to the idea of being the senior lady of the house as well.

Her competitive behavior with you is a bit ahead of schedule. Or perhaps think of it as early female teen years coming ahead of schedule.

These are only the things that crossed my mind. I have no ability to offer any seriously pro or experienced advice.

Just a few observations. That's all.

That girl had best be glad I'm not her father...if I was trying to be with a woman and I had a little girl acting like that, I think I'd use a switch on her...

@TotalMiss exactly what was stupid about that accurately recanted event?

"No, you're wrong, little girl, you're about to take a good hard spanking!"

It will be hard to get friendship because she's thinking that you steal her Dad.You have to put your self in her position she's only acting like the kids.If you want to continue in this relationship consider all these consequence

Dating only three weeks, he shouldn’t have even introduced you yet. Irresponsible parenting.

@th3r0n With HER mouthy attitude I bet daily for at least a week would be necessary!
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@Snuffy1957 a belt and then a switch could potentially reduce that time frame
Snuffy1957 · 61-69, M
@th3r0n a belt and a switch at a minimum :-)

I’ve been through this several times. Have a talk with dad. Let him know about her rudeness. If he fails to address it, go elsewhere. You can’t win or survive such situations. Good luck.

@Livingwell thanks😊

Keep showing his daughter love and affection and she will come around :-) maybe she sees you as someone who is trying to replace her mom and I know that you are not trying to do that!
Yikes, that’s tough ...dating a guy with young kids could be a tough balancing act.... it’s like you’re dating 2 people (or 3!)...

Something must be wrong in the way you have been introduced. It must have been something sudden to the girl.

Three weeks? And you’re already involved with each other’s kids? You don’t bring kids into it until you know this is it. Too soon, do yourself, your kids and his a favor, and tread carefully.

no one can replace mom, but you are trying to steal dad. its understandable for a kid to feel that way.

How do your daughters feel about it? Do they understand why she's acting like that? Are they okay? 😕
