Are there any Japanese SW members who could help please?
I bought this pair of carvings, believed to be Japanese circa-1900, they are beautifully carved with agate eyes. I am interested in knowing what is being depicted in the carvings? Who are the two little "imp" looking creatures? Do they have names? Etc. thanks so much.
i've seen these wood carvings of herd-boys on water buffalo (oxen) all over Vietnam. anyways maybe there's an antiquity specialist around who can assess for you, good luck.
