No but probably a nutjob.

@SW-User He is an army vet. No criminal record. The state is taking his guns because someone complained. So red flagged.
SW-User
@SW-User and that's how he reacts...yup the gun deserves to be taken away.
SW-User
@SW-User Isn't government taking guns away against the 2nd amendment. He's protecting what's rightfully his. It's not illegal.

Don't hate me Hahaha
SW-User
@SW-User if a court has ordered the gun to be seized it is lawful. What he is doing is unlawful.

Is fighting the cops ok? Is running from the cops ok? Is a standoff ok?
SW-User
@SW-User To protect a human right? Sure. This to me is overreaching government. Making a criminal out of an otherwise innocent person.
SW-User
@SW-User as it was pointed out by another, there's more going on that what we know. Cops need probable cause to take to a court to get an order to take the weapon. Courts don't just hand those out like candy without some kind of evidence of wrongdoing.
SW-User
@SW-User It's not the first time. They go by hearsay. No real evidence.

@SW-User The man, Alex Booth, who wanted to Make America Defiant Again, was arrested on charges involving his wife, including harassment and criminal trespass. Officers had initially responded because a neighbor heard a gunshot coming from the home. No firearms charges were filed, and no weapons or ammunition were seized. Looks like he was another right wing nut who posed a threat to his wife--exactly the type of person that red flag laws were passed to prevent them from having weapons and posing a threat to others.
SW-User
@windinhishair I would like to see where you got this information

SW-User
@windinhishair Funny thing is, another report said he was red flagged by his job.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User Sounds like he was an unstable right wing nut who should have been red flagged. That's what the law is for--to prevent unstable people from having weapons and hurting someone, including themselves.

@windinhishair

Not when your family is threatened

windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User We'll see what the real story is, but if even a buddy says you're unstable and will shoot at police, you should be red flagged. The overview is that unstable people who pose a potential threat should not have weapons. Period.
SW-User
@windinhishair He didn't have and weapons during the standoff
Hahahahha

What was he going to shoot? Water?
SW-User
@windinhishair Your liberal bias is showing
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User Sounds like the red flag law is working if he no longer had a gun to kill with. A big win for the law.
SW-User
@windinhishair Big win for violations of freedom. But you obviously don't care

I guess you support what China is doing to Hong Kong. You love law.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User The law worked. A man who was a danger to himself and others did not have a weapon when he was in a position to kill others. Huge win not only for the law but public safety and reason.
SW-User
@windinhishair So, even if it was set up, you still side with law.

Then again, you don't care about personal freedom. So it doesn't matter
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User How is it a "set up" when someone legitimately flags a friend who he believes is a danger to others? I support personal freedom, but that freedom doesn't include the right to kill others who also have rights.
SW-User

SW-User
@windinhishair You don't support personal rights and I am sure if the 2nd amendment was removed, you would have no problem with it. As well as the first.

And you never answered about Hong Kong. You love big government so much.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User The guy who was raided had PTSD and would shoot at police. Yep, a danger to himself and others. Thank God he didn't have a weapon to kill others, particularly his wife, who was in danger. The NY Red Flag Law is working as intended.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SW-User Hong Kong has nothing to do with the situation in Mahopac.

I support both the first and second amendments. But neither are absolute. You can't yell "fire!" in a crowded theater, and you can't own every weapon of your choice. Read the Heller v. DC decision affirming the second amendment. Pay close attention to Justice Scalia's words on the second amendment and how it is not absolute. States and local governments have the legal right to limit arms.
