Is Oregon a good state to live in?

MamaJanine · 31-35, F
I love Oregon! The air is really good. It’s a little expensive but the natural is beautiful.
we love it here , for all the shit you'll hear about the cities from rural parts of the state ignore them they're just jealous and jaded. We voted to raise our own taxes to support the library, your children when they turn teenagers should they start experimenting with illegal drugs will at least merely be forced into rehab for it. The drug war is effectively over in the state and while some people are so adamant it was a terrible idea I'm relieved they still aren't clogging up our prisons, the drug war cost more than it was worth.

of course it's not for everyone, it rains all the time, and such. If you're kinda weird open minded and progressive we want you especially if you have a college degree.
@BetweenKittensandRiots was this a positive on Oregon. Or maybe just a drug-addled blab?
@LamontCranston it's a positive. Also not all of the opponents of our Drug war use drugs at all ever.

It seems that way to me. I've never lived there, but I've been many times, and I have a number of friends who live there and love it.
it's a nice place to visit.
A lot of people live there, so it must not be too bad.
see my comment on BetweenKittensand Riots comment.
But Portland, the "Rose City" has, to be blunt, really gone to hell. There was a recent news story about all the "chop shops" there: Homeless stealing cars on a large scale, bringing them to pop-up chops hops which cannibalie the parts for sale and leave the derelict hulks, all over the city.

@SkeetSkeet

'not lnow' and 'me have'? OK the K & L are beside each but how did you type M instead of W - Keyboard upside down?

@Really calm down before you break a hip

@SkeetSkeet Be careful what you wish for others. It could happen to you.

It's so nice the British dumped it on the US.
DCarey · 46-50, M
@nonsensiclesnail In the 1840s when they set the US Canada border at the 49th parallel.
@DCarey Yes, they did.
@DCarey I believe the border was quite contested. Consider the Pig Wars on San Juan island
I'm sure its mostly reasonable. I've heard 'portlandia' is[was?] shockingly apt.

It's getting expensive. Avoid the tri-county area around Portland.
I live near there, It's a beautiful part of the country!
TheBannibalOne · 61-69, M
I heard its not good.
I have a friend who lives there.
MrAboo · 36-40, M
Not where I’d choose to live. Too many liberals.
It's cheaper. I know a lot of people who live there.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
I still live here. It's nice
oregon is a beatiful state in many regards. i consider the coast and the wine region the best.
However, the antifa have taken over Portland. The Rose City isn't what it used to be.
Vancouver, WA just across the Columbia, has many similar features but hasn't been taken over by the crazies.
My family bought some property up in Oregon. I don’t know much about it but I mean I wouldn’t mind living there.

@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart swing by sometime
@Moosepantspatty What is it like there anyways?
Moosepantspatty · 31-35, M
@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart well, i wont confirm exactly where i live, but i do live in the PNW, and it is very green, very pretty. But not as rainy and snowy as its rendered to be. Its usually a sunny 66-75f, but we have had some crazy temps lately
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
yes Portland is one of the most liberal cities in the country but it's a rural state, lots of Different stuff happening, one of the few states I want to live in

Nobody knows. Is it on fire? Some parts always will be.
Is it a traffic jam full of poor people,? Yeah.
Housing? No.
I have friends who've lived there a long time and like it. Just avoid the Portland area.
Iwillwait · M
I am not sure. My first knee-jerk reaction would be it's too cold and too leftist.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
Oregon is not a state, it's a condition, like measles
Driver2 · M
What kind of place are you looking for ?
tindrummer · M
Yes but my part of California is better. 🤓
Especially Portland, the state has gone to hell.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
So I’ve been told
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
no but its a nice spice
empanadas · 31-35, M
Not to live but good place to visit
strongbow · 46-50, M
Its by far the best state on the west coast to live but only if you stay away from the more populated liberal shithole counties, specifically washington and multnomah county
