Would you like to play a game of chess on Chess.com? I don't mind if you are 'not good', it'll be fun to play with someone from SW :) If you're better, I improve by playing with you. If I'm better then you improve from playing with me.

Also, I totally agree that games should have nothing to do with age. Everyone ought to enjoy them! Risk is a major favorite of mine and I am fond of checkers. I tried my mind at Chinese chess, still learning the tactics.

@ShieldUp i shud check it out

@SW-User Yeah! Do so :)

@galacticexplorer So you have to go onto chess.com and register an account, which is pretty simple. Then tell me your username and I'll create a match! It's fine, that's how you learn and improve. It takes some patience. Oh! I wish I could have played that, I enjoy variations of Risk maps, especially fantasy themed ones.
And I agree.

@SW-User Jenga/Tumbling Tower is fun, I recently tried that. I want to try Exploding Kittens, I've heard of it. I also favor Scrabble :) and TP is great aswell

@galacticexplorer Girllll you’re gonna love Exploding Kittens!
Not much into games at all anymore but love sitting down with a good book , be it a good fictional or non fictional one anything to do with ancient civilizations and history and geography and things to do with nature , if I was to play cards enjoy a good game of canasta or like playing scrabble.

@warnbrobeachlover1 I am an avid reader :) I read more non-fiction than I do fiction, but the classics and literature are adored. I also listen to audiobooks, those are always non-fiction. I like History very much aswell.
@galacticexplorer Hi yeah audio books are something I haven't come to terms with greatly , I prefer to sit back and read a good hard copy having the feel of the book and turning pages, not into these modern book stores at all, but like the old ones where you can go in and smell the pages so to speak was lucky to find one last week , the one I used to go to has been turned into one of them coffee places
galacticexplorer · 26-30, F
@warnbrobeachlover1 I'm fortunate enough to find benefit in both methods. I also prefer the proper physical way more, I own hundreds of books, many are antiques. But when I am working out, or taking a long walk, doing housework, painting etc..,I am able to utilize my time even better and multi-task by listening to an audiobook while I do any of those things or others. So I agree that the best way is to hold the book and such, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize that audiobooks have their benefits. Plus many are read by the authors, and reading TO someone is an ancient practice anyhow aha.
I also adore old books shops, visit many of them in Toronto

We need to nurture the ludens in us, I believe it's highly important for the soul to stay young! :)
galacticexplorer · 26-30, F
(I say that knowing it's often the old/ancient souls, like myself who recognize the importance in that) :)

@galacticexplorer We're human, our middle name is "contradictions" lol

I'm just often reminded by an interview with Brenda Romero, (who also desgined some board games.) A game designer who's in her early 50's now, but talks about games so passionately and eagerly still, in a way where you can see how it has kept her full of wonder and excitment. That's why I think it's important.
galacticexplorer · 26-30, F
@Nobody37 I like that so much, I'm going to look her up!

I never played outdoor sports as an asthmatic kid. It was always board games.
galacticexplorer · 26-30, F
@SW-User That makes sense, the beauty is there are games of all kinds :)
