Writing out some thoughts
This is an addition of something I posted about tanks a few days ago.
I've been playing around with possible combinations, and think I found one I like. All of the possibilities are built around having a Techmarine as the leader, just with varying numbers and types of tanks. Originally I had planned to have a Repulsor Executioner alongside two Gladiators: one Reaper and the other a Lancer. But last night I realised that in the same points limit I can get two Gladiator Lancers and two Gladiator Reapers, all with Heavy Stubbers and Auto-launchers. I still want to get a Repulsor Executioner, but this way there is more resilience to the list due to having more vehicles, and the redundancy of having two of each allows the list to not struggle too much against either infantry or tanks even if one Gladiator is taken down.
If I do build this all-tank list, the next step would be adding a Repulsor Executioner, which brings it to 155 points shy of 1500. Not really sure what to add at that point to get it all the way there, because nothing really fits into that while keeping to the theme. A second Techmarine could be added, which leaves 75 points of which only 25 can be spent on upgrades for the tanks. Alternately, a Storm Speeder Hailstrike could be fitted in at 150 points which might be the preferred option.
Not sure it really matters though. It's not like I'm going to actually build these lists in real life. Nowhere near enough money for that.
