Culling the Emperor's finest :(
I've played space marines of various sorts for 15 years now, from my original Ultramarines tactical squad which grew into a decent force of Crimson Fists before being sold in 2010/11, to my little collection of Grey Knights in 5th edition (2008-2012), to the Deathwatch Kill Team in 2017, to today's nearly 10,000 points of Crimson Fists, 4000 points of Grey Knights, 2500 points of Deathwatch, and the Imperial Fists 405th Company I started this year.
This is getting rather out of hand, and beyond (FAR beyond) what I can reasonably use, especially in terms of Crimson Fists. So today I've decided to cull my Crimson Fists, Deathwatch, and revise my Imperial Fists to manageable levels. Doing so leaves me heavy-hearted, having loved every one of those models from the moment I got them. But it's for the best.
To this end, I've figured out a 1000 point list for the Deathwatch and am selling the rest to a friend for $70. I'm also going to give that same friend three of my Intercessor Squads that never come out of the case. Grey Knights won't be affected by this, but the rest will see forces drawn up and anything superfluous to those will be relegated or passed on to someone who will get more out of them than I am currently (or ever) going to.
Honestly, I'm quite sad about this, but it's for the best. Hopefully I won't get too emotional doing it, because excising beloved parts from your favourite activity is hard; it'd be like trying to choose which children get to keep which limbs (except nothing is that extreme).
Anyway, this is already long enough. I'll be sure to keep posting about it to document my progress, even if nobody reads them. Hopefully it'll be cathartic to some extent.
