Depends on what are these 5 pages about. If it's physics, chemistry or math, that would take a daamn long for me. No chance to learn it in one day. I could manage biology, history, art history...But 5 pages in a day doesn't sound very effective to me. I would forget much of it right after the exam. I have to study gradually in order to get information deeper.
In college, we had to memorize around 500-1000 pictures of artworks - who was the author, approximate date when it was created, sometimes additional information. Somehow, I was able to pass on the first try every time but I never tried to learn everything all at once. I had to create "layers" in my memory. I memorized few one week, had a pause and memorize few again.
I also used to write down everything I learned before the exam. And I relied on my visual memory - what my notes looked like. I visualized a page in my mind and it helped me to remember what was the content.
