I Am Tired of Some Using the Race Card

So,shopping at the market and the lights go out. Happens pretty often here in the middle of nowhere. A manager or whomever announces that the backup power for the checkout will be online in about fifteen minutes. Ok, no big deal, right?

I grab a couple things, go to checkout to wait. Two people in front of me and the one inn front starts yelling at the checker for not scanning her things Poor girl explains the system isn't up yet, it'll be a few more minutes. So the woman decided to scream how the girl is being racist cause she's black and how she needs to be fired, then it turns in to get insisting that she should get her food for free because of inconvenience. I think she throws in a "law says" for good measure too.

The system finally kicks in after way too much ranting, by that tinge the manager is there trying to explain it's not because she's black but because of the power outage. She leaves screeching about how she's going to call naacp and she has rights and oppression.....

Ofef that's oppression....

I hate the fact that while perhaps not in this case, people are still occasionally being racially discriminated against. It may be just a “card game” to you. But if it never happened no one would be suspicious about it, and no one would be able to make the claim.

@bijouxbroussard 'perhaps not', what would provide the evidence for you to believe this was non racial?
@GeniUs I wasn’t there, so I was giving the OP the benefit of doubt. But I’m guessing she’s not black and for all I know she may even dislike black people, which could “color” her perception of the event.
@bijouxbroussard Nope, I'm not black. And I dislike attitudes of entitlement which is not a race.

The race card concept is when someone uses the actual problem of racism as an excuse to behave like their mam didn't teach them basic decency. That doesn't mean honest instances of racism doesn't happen but that some people will use it as an excuse to manipulate others.

On this case...how can a blackout be racist? The checkout chick wasn't able to scan ANYONE out. It was obviously not racism but someone using a buzzword to manipulate because ten seconds later she's demanding her stuff to be free because the girl is racist. That's obvious carding.
@EllaDisenchanted And she was “going tutu call naacp...” I believe you said. So as I said, perhaps not a racial issue in this case. But trivializing racism by making frivolous claims or trivializing it by dismissing it as some kind of “card” game ? Neither is helpful.
@bijouxbroussard when people want to use buzzwords and/or actual issues to manipulate others then it deserves to be trivialized. That manipulation is trivial behavior from a minimal mind.
@EllaDisenchanted This group exists because racism, unfortunately, still does. I’ll concede that some people do use it to manipulate in non—racial situations. But others trivialize it as a “card game” to shame people out of standing up for themselves when they truly believe they’re being discriminated against. It is an ugly situation all around.
@bijouxbroussard No one's forcing to you be part of the group. Just as no one's going to stop me from pointing out that some people will manipulate others no matter how they can, including trying to shame them with lables like racist because it gets them attention.
@EllaDisenchanted Understood; racism still exists, which is why this group does. And I wouldn’t be part of a racist group, so that’s not an issue. I don’t know if you’re in the U.S., but if you are, we’re both covered by First Amendment protections that allow whatever we wish to say on the matter.
@bijouxbroussard Yep, I'm in the US. And a huge supporter of free speech across the board.
