I Am Living With An Incurable Disease Or Illness

Over the past 18 months, I have developed significant motor neuron disease. The neurologists all believe that I have ALS, but none shared that diagnosis with me until 5 months ago.

@PoetryNEmotion My muscles are steadily weakening, little by little. I can still move around our apartment using my cane, but it feels like I have so much weight on my ankles that I can barely move my feet. I cannot lift my left foot off of the floor at all anymore... I just shuffle along. When I go out, I use a rollator, but I cannot go any distance... for distances, it is a wheelchair. My upper body is also getting very weak... I can barely roll over in bed, and only with great effort. But in spite of the physical struggles, life is generally pretty good. We are trying to plan for what the future holds... and especially the future for my wife and kids. It was interesting yesterday to hear her talking about the plans that she has for her life and how it will change after I am gone... nice to see that she is thinking about that... 😊
@ms20182878 You are such a good man. I am sorry for this dreadful ailment. Please take care. Enjoy your life. And keep us updated. Life isn't over until it is over.

@PoetryNEmotion Oh, My Friend... I'm not totally so good... I have a definite naughty side... 😉

Life is good because God is good!
@ms20182878 I do not comment on religious matters around here. I am unconventional. I meant in the terms of being a person who doesn't deserve such a malady or medical condition. I am sure you are rather naughty and lusty. And you are living still.

@PoetryNEmotion "Naughty and lusty"... yes... that's a good description of me... 😉
@ms20182878 I am pretty accurate in how I see people. Online or in the other world.
