I Wish My Brain Could Tell My Heart How to Feel

A heart that obeys no rules, that only wants to feel will get shattered time and time again. It will be covered in scars. But it will go on beating and it will go on loving because that is what brave hearts do, they feel and they love, no matter what.

I was thinking about this lately, in the aspect of the crushes I have had IRL and on SW the last few years. I get attached easily and if it comes to an end, no matter how it comes to an end, I grieve. And that is something that DH can rarely help me with.

@ChampagneOnIce Although there are some sitiations I want to repeat...just to make sure! Lol🥴
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
@CoffeeFirst I can understand that too. For me, though, once the lesson is learned I won’t go there again. However, if it’s a pleasurable experience, I do like a repeat performance or two or... ;)

@ChampagneOnIce You read me right, sistah!

This, this, this!

So much of the time I wish I could turn the volume down on my emotions. Not turn them off....just turn the volume down.
diablesse · 56-60, F
@SmartKat We can't turn that volume down, so how about learning to dance to the music they play instead?
SmartKat · 56-60, F
@diablesse Well, I don’t think it would be good to turn it off completely....that leads to other problems. But some music is just plain impossible to dance to, ha ha. So I like the idea of turning the volume down. It’s still there...it just doesn’t have to drown out all other sounds.

Your brain can't tell your heart how to feel. But it's usually better than your heart for deciding what action to take, if any.

I’ve been lucky overall with my heart and with love. Love has only steered me wrong once, and that led to my heart shattering, but it was a lesson learned. I’m wiser and more compassionate now because of the experience.

@diablesse Do we want an unsealed heart though?
diablesse · 56-60, F
@ChampagneOnIce What good is a sealed heart that never learns to love?
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
@diablesse I think it would be easier. My heart is sealed now, and I can breathe again. Plus, you don’t always get your heart broken when you love.

Heads learn through experience; they become wiser and grow to be more cautious when caution is advisable. But hearts don't? Is that what you are saying?

Right now, I hate that thought. With all my heart.
diablesse · 56-60, F
@RealtaReoite Hearts don't, they love and they hope, but we have minds and we learn to build walls to protect our hearts. The trouble with those walls is that while they protect us they also isolate us and it can get lonely behind those walls.
jim44444 · 70-79, M
@diablesse the walls we build to protect us are the same walls that imprison us.

More bricks, please and thank you, @jim44444, @diablesse.

To be able to remain vulnerable is beautiful. It is the process that makes it worthwhile, not often the end at times.
