I Hate Stupidity

In school, they stated that Communism and Socialism are related but not the same thing. We usually saw examples of communism (USSR, Vietnam, North Korea, Mao's China) but we were never shown examples of socialism, socialism with capitalism. This leaves you with an undertoned allusion that socialism always leads to communism, therefore, socialism is bad. I they should make it a point to hammer home that they are not the same thing and that socialism isn't inherently evil because it's relationship to communism. Especially in this country because many people see those words as equivalent, demonizing anything to do with socialism.

The problem like most things with humans is that in small groups, both ideas can work well. Its when we scale them up, and some people inevitably get more power than others and use it against them that things turn into crap real quick. That doesn't depend on which form of government you have it can happen with them all.

“Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.” - Winston Churchill

@Pherick It's easier for people to think in extreme dichotomies unfortunately.
