Giving up at your age is probably a bit much unless you're facing some very unusual circumstances not disclosed in this post, but it's a good thing to learn to be genuinely comfortable/okay being alone as well, as the odds you will have to be for stretches of time here and there throughout your life are rather high in the modern world.
