I Am A Secular Individual Living In A Godly World
I guess this is the closest I'm getting to what I want. The world is, yes, generally speaking godly, and I am first and foremost secular, more than atheistic or anything else. Why secular? Out of liberal principle. It allows most things to go on without pain, even when they are in error - and really, should we make it our sole business to punish error? What about when we ourselves are in error?
And so I can look around and see even the religious children of John Locke saying that separation of church and state is a value that actually preserves both church [i]and[/i] state, in its way. And liberalism/secularism has fostered a certain awareness, among the godly, of when they are being taken for a ride.
So you see (to indulge myself) a profoundly Christian man (who lived a profoundly un-Christian life) like Warren Zevon coming up with a tune like this:
