I Love Donkey Kong
Ever wondered how Donkey Kong got his name? When his creator Shigeru Miyamoto first came up with the idea of using a giant gorilla as the main antagonist for Nintendo's next big arcade project, he wanted to use a name that American audiences could familiarize themselves with. The use of the word "kong" was obviously inspired by King Kong and the idea to use the word "donkey" before "kong" was intended to convey "stubborn ape" to audiences. When he presented the name to the Nintendo headquarters of America, they reportedly laughed at him. But somehow or another, the name stuck and the rest is history. 🙊
