I Got The Slipper At School

Got caught smoking in the coatroom, must have been 14 at the time and normally this would have been detention but as it was the end of term i got slippered instead and spent the rest of the day with a dusty foot print on the back of my skirt.

Unfortunately we didn't have the slipper in school when I was 14, they stopped doing it before then.
HeadGirl · 41-45, F
@Lynn1976 I did a bit.

At my school we got the cane for smoking. The slipper was used in the classroom for relatively minor matters.

All my school had to do was either send a note home or call home and I would be punished at home. I don't think it is the school's place to punish students beyond an ISS or similar.

@chrisCA It was abolished in 1970 or 1972, so just as you were going through grade school. What two things did you do?
chrisCA · M
@Lynn1976 The first time I believe, was for being disruptive.
The second time, I intentionally ruined another boy's drawing. Lol
Lynn1976 · 46-50, F
@chrisCA Mine was first in 2nd grade for constantly forgetting my school work and in 5th grade I was suspended for talking back to a teacher, but I actually got in trouble while I was home suspended when I was supposed to be doing my work.

That is mildly obscene and not permitted in America. I recall seeing on the news a teacher kick a seven-year-old girl in front of witnesses in the library because she didn't get up from a crouch in front of a shelf fast enough. The girl went sprawling, the parents brought suit, and the teacher was fired.

@MaryJanine Kicking a 7-year-old is appalling abuse.

@HeadGirl I agree. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.People who would do that to a child shouldn't be teachers.

When I was in grammar school, we had an assistant principal who used to stand at the boys' entrance and snatch the hats off their heads if they hadn't removed them the minute they got inside. I couldn't believe it when she did it even when it was freaking ice-cold outside - and then she would yell at them. She was a MEAN old lady.
PE teacher used the slipper a lot on us.

@nevergiveup
cane and other forms of punishment did not end until 1987 in the UK.
That was only in state schools. It was still allowed in private schools until ca. 2000

@Sharon was much the same here

Of course now many of us parents are acting as teacher's assistants while we try to keep them on track with virtual learning. I am not cut out to be a teacher.

@Lynn1976 Neither are most parents. My one brother had to take 7th grade over because my mom would send him to school and he would truant somewhere else as often as he could, or just refuse to get up and stay home. Then, in high school, he began it again. At the time he was working at McDonald's and my mom managed to get him on the work program while he finished high school. After she did that, he skipped school infrequently, because the kids were not allowed to miss school in the morning and go to work only in the afternoon, and he knew it.

Love that lol. I remember the same footprint squarely across my sisters trouser seat. That was for smoking to 👍

How many did you get?
