I Got The Slipper At School

@Sharon It stings, doesn't it?

Our first P.E. teacher was fairly slipper-happy but left after two terms.

His replacement preferred a table-tennis bat with the rubbers removed, but thankfully(?) used it far less often.

@TheThinker Getting it off her really stung, she usually gave us six too. It wasn't as bad off other teachers, they usually just gave us two or three.

@JoBlak With our gym mistress it was both, a large quantity of high quality whacks.

@JoBlak My parents didn't whack in anger but they gave far more whacks than teachers did. At school, most slipperings were just 2 or 3, at home a dozen was something of a starting point.

I think part of the reason why the whole calm measured ritual of school punishments (which, the odd stroke of the slipper in P.E. aside, I never got) so fascinates me, is because the only childhood spankings I got were in violent anger from my father.

That's why I think the whole ritual thing appeals to me: order v. chaos.
