I Love Interesting Facts

I learnt today that the word Orange was used to describe the fruit before it was used to describe the colour.

So what word was used before 'Orange' to describe the colour?

Dutch?

I found out on antiques roadshow the other day that they couldn't make orange pigments in the 17th century. So how did William of Orange become William of a colour no-one could make?

@SW-User Very good point!

Are there any SW colour historian academics out there who can help Nunos50 and I?
