I Love Interesting Facts

I learnt today that the word Orange was used to describe the fruit before it was used to describe the colour.

So what word was used before 'Orange' to describe the colour?

Dutch?

I found out on antiques roadshow the other day that they couldn't make orange pigments in the 17th century. So how did William of Orange become William of a colour no-one could make?

Red, I think.

People with "red" hair actually have some shade more like orange.

A robin "redbreast" actually has an orange patch on his breast.
