I Love Helping Others But I Need Help Back Sometimes Too

I'm a mn ER nurse. I've seen so much human hurt and peril it hurts to think about.
Tonight was so much worse than I've seen ever.
Why do people stay with overly abusive counterparts? I can somewhat see an excuse for just them, but when tiny children are involved...
please, please help the ones that can't help themselves. I wanted to steal 2 children tonight just to try to prove to them some people want to just care and love them.🙁

I've made it very clear to all of my children's friends-- my house is a sanctuary. If they ever needed a place to go, for any reason, they will always have one.

As have I. In high school my oldest had his best friend call me with a problem she had. I hate that people can be so incredibly cruel

@Havegreatfriends: I lived through it, so... yeah. Only way to stop it from repeating in the future is to give them an "out" and break the cycle by showing them that there is a different way!

@GwydionFrost: hoping they are doing well. Hoping they were received by a loving home that can help heal some of the damage done.

Well I could be wrong but that's where the law comes in and presses charges themselves because the victim will not or to scared to. I could but when a victim of domestic abuse goes into hospital the hospital is suppose to call the police or do I have that all wrong?

I suppose but those poor children. It's impossible to have a heart that doesn't get crushed with cases like this. I've had parents come back and ask me to make a statement on their behalf before. I really wish they had a heart like the poor babies hearts they've crushed.

@Havegreatfriends: Well that is to bad that parents need the help of hospital staff to protect there kids.

@updown2020: I truly wished I could do more. I wanted to grab them and hug them until they cried. The youngest one was so desensitized to it he didn't getting ailment for 2nd degree burns. Everyone cries with that. Poor lil guy.😭☹️

Sad. Clearly the adults need help.

You are a strong and wonderful person for being so helpful.

Thank you for your kind words. All I wanted was for these children to find some peace.

@Havegreatfriends: I've been in similar situation. Hard to switch it off.
You're an asset to the world with the work you do.
Perhaps you have a professional obligation to report the issue to authorities if you strongly feel the children are at serious risk. They may get help for them. Worst case is they will be removed from their parents. That's a hard call but in extreme cases, necessary.

@BeachBum: Social Services came early that morning. I truly hope and pray that they're well and together. The last thing I would want is for them to be separated.
Thank you. I love my job but so despise the pain and cruelty I see sometimes. I really wish I had a way to take all of them home with me.
