I Love Old People

I’m not sure why I like being around old people. They are often simple, like children, which gives me peace of mind. They can be cranky, but at least you know where you stand with them. I might say I value their wisdom, but the ones I know are mostly just goofy. Maybe it’s because I have good memories of my grandparents and miss them.

You should meet my dad he will change your mind completely

Yeah, I don’t like my Dad either. Maybe it’s because I avoid him that I have found some other old people to hang around with.
Put this up on billboard maybe you can help age bias people
Damn, ageism is as bad as race bigotry in America.

I had no idea Americans detested older people so
Ageism is a issue no one wants to talk about

You know I had a girlfriend who told me that a neighbor couple on her street in their 70's had to give up their daily walks for exercise because children threw rocks at them.

And at my daughter's former address her next door neighbor was a lady in her 70's.
The children on her street stuffed rags in her gutter downspout and knocked down her wooden fence.

And one Sunday while she was at church my daughter took videos of boys picking up her neighbor lady's flower planters and busting them on her sidewalk.

Yeah you keep being sweet to older people you are rare and wonderful wish it was more like you!

I like the ones that can hear you, the deaf ones are infuriating.

my dad has one and refuses to wear it! “doesn’t help that much” OMG .... YES it DOES

@NiftyWhite Does he do the thing where he nods or shakes his head, pretending he's heard you even though he hasn't ?
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
yep. we will go to the dr and he will nod like you said then later ask me to tell him everything the doctor said. @Allelse So now i don’t leave his house without him wearing his hearing aids. I’ll wait all day and miss the appt if i have to. idc. Annoying af.

Sometimes he also does the opposite. he’s so used to saying “huh?” or “what?” that it’s a habit now and he will say it even when he’s wearing his hearing aids, and has heard what i said.

We can always learn from older people. They have experience times and events that will never happen again and one day, we will only be able to read about them.
Old is a relative term, but they have a better appreciation for life usually since they've gone through good times and bad

Indeed. And they are usually far less pretentious.
