I shake my head not knowing what to believe at this point, I could still be dreaming. I walk out of my room going through all that I have experienced trying to remember every detail as best I can. I go to my kitchen and get a glass from the cupboard and fill it with water, my thoughts still consumed with my dream. Was it a dream though, how did the sand get on the floor? I close my eyes finishing the glass of water and put the glass down. Taking a few calming breaths I decide that I need to try to get back to sleep, it is still the middle of the night and I have a long day at work I need to be well rested for.

I make my way back up to my bedroom, eyes half closed trying to relax my body to get back to sleep. I walk into my bedroom and am shocked fully awake by how bright the room is. I close my eyes tightly and slowly open them to get used to how bright everything is. Once my eyes are able to focus on my surroundings I’m amazed that I am standing in a forest with trees as far as I can see. I recognize some of the trees but others I’ve never seen before.

It brings me back to the days when I was younger and my family would go camping and go on nature walks looking at the trees and all the animals. Learning about all of the wonders of nature from my parents. I’m brought out of my nostalgic thoughts as my brain finally wakes up and I try to figure out how I got to this forest. I look behind me and do not see the bedroom door that I think I just walked through. I turn completely around and all I can see is forest on a bright sunny day. I look down and see that I am still in my pajama pants that I normally wear to bed. My bare feet feel the rough forest floor covered in dirty and leaves. I feel the slight breeze coming through the trees on my bare back as I notice a green apple on the ground not far from me. I take a few steps and look around not seeing an apple tree anywhere around me. I lean down and pick the apple up looking at it and then looking around at the forest once.

My curiosity overcomes me and I start walking around curious of where I am, part of me wonders if I will walk into a wall in my bedroom thinking this is some crazy illusion. To my disappointment there are no walls, just endless trees all around me. Suddenly I drop the apple from my hand startled as something touched the side of my hand. Seeing nothing on my hand I look down and see that a very strange looking worm making its way around the apple. Feeling very satisfied that I didn’t take a bit of the apple after all I stand up and see something to the left beside an oddly shaped tree.

Walking close to the colourful bunch of leaves on the side of the tree I see one of them move and I stop dead in my tracks. I look closer to see that they are not leaves at all but thousands of colourful butterflies together on a branch sticking out from the lower part of the tree. I take a few steps closer being as quiet as I can be amazed at how many of them are clustered together. I look around and after a closer look all the leaves in all the trees seem to be butterflies of different kinds and colours all clustered together. I’ve never seen anything like this before.

I come a bit closer to the butterflies closest to me and reach out my hand. I know it may not be safe, but I can’t resist wanting to touch one of them. As my finger gets closer I hear a loud crash behind me and all the butterflies take flight coming at my face. I take a few quick steps back closing my eyes and bringing my arms up to protect my face and I stumble back falling onto something very soft and all of a sudden everything is dark and quiet. I slowly open my eyes and give them a chance to adjust to the darkness. To my shock, I’m laying on top of my bed in my bedroom again. I close my eyes wishing for this crazy dream to be over.
