Writer's note: This is pretty much a true story as my twins will attempt to get their respective driver's licenses this coming weekend. Enjoy...

[i][c=#7700B2]The two teenagers sit giddy as they wait for a number to be called. Hers is number 27 while his is number 28. The twins have each waited for over 16 years for this date. If all goes well, each will earn their respective driver’s license within the next hour.

Despite being twins, my kids have very different personalities. This was just as apparent in their driving styles. “Oh my,” I thought. “My kids…my babies…will be drivers!” Based on the last year of practice driving under my supervision, I could envision each behind the wheel on their own. My petite timid daughter was cautious of approaching a higher speed and would most likely take the backroads to get from point A to point B. My son, on the other hand, would hope for the opportunity to open the throttle up on an interstate highway. It will most assuredly be his ventures out and about that will cause me to pace the floors back home.

I will be worried about what distance they’d be traveling. How will they handle the sharp curves on the rural roads? Will they be distracted by friends? By texting? (They SHOULD know better). So many thoughts and worries ahead for me. But no question is asked more than, “what car will they drive.” I think of my wife’s 2018 Honda Accord and my beat up 2003 Toyota Corolla. I believe the choice is clear…and that’s what makes me smile.

“Dad?” my daughter prompts. “Are we going anywhere after we pass the test?” (God, I love her confidence).

“Yes we are sweetie. We’re going by the car dealership and try to find Daddy a nice new sleek sports car.”

As long as daddy keeps the keys to that new sleek sports car well hidden from his son to avoid an increase in the pacing.

Hahaha!😄 Great story and I would be so nervous too. I used to have a Honda Accord as well. Are you still in NC? 🍀I'm from there as well. Did ya'll go to Cracker Barrel after the driving test? 😉
