I Would Like to Live Off the Grid

I had a discussion with my friend the other day and truly believe if I Can be completely off-grid or just far away from town I will be happy as long as I can grow my food and build up my house with whoever wants to be self-sustainable with me

It's easier in some places than in others.
I've considered this as well. Basic requirements would be -
* 5-10 acres
* Tiny house (900 sq ft or less)
* Well (for water)
* Septic system (unless you're in an area where you can tie into the sewer system) (Hey, there's always the outhouse method)
* Solar panels with batteries (have some spares, they don't last forever)
* Green house
* Meat source (livestock vs hunting/fishing)

(This home is for sale in Wisconsin)
I’ve always wanted to do this, but also purchase one of those islands for sale in the caribbean.

I guess my hydroponic set up in my basement will be the closest thing to growing my own food.

@BigbangFACTS I bet your tomatoes will be so heavenly 😍 roast some makes sauces and keep some hole 🤤🤤🤤🤤 how much to overnight some.♡♡ will you try to grow beans? And roots like ginger i heard they are awesome for hydros. :)
@Ebonyhunni I’ve never overnight them before, but if you’re ever in NYC, just let me know 😂

I’ve been eating those tomatoes 🍅 like fruit lately. I’ll get more creative after I stop being a glutton.

And Yes, i want to grow a series of herbs 🌿 and spices as well, especially all the natural antibiotics.

My dream life...

Sometimes I pack in the tent and go camping off the grid for a few days.

@Ebonyhunni Its seems easier to do home schooling in other countries than where I am (South Africa), where it is a legal requirement for children of a certain age range to attend schools.
Ebonyhunni · 22-25, F
I cannot comment on the school system on south africa but i can say i do not like usa school systems put trash in get trash out with those few who are diamonds in the rough or shiny trash... but thats on work ethic
iMystery · M
@Ebonyhunni Lol I feel you.
I live largely off the grid, about half the year.
have a long time. I love the peace of the woods, the mountain.
it is hard to compleately cut the cord, but in most winters ( not this one!) i am far from the madness

It can be done if you're determined. Good luck, I hope you find that place you're looking for.

That'd be dope. I've talked about it before too. The problem I face I really like watching movies 😂
Ebonyhunni · 22-25, F
@Soxs45 as long as i can get to do my battle cry 😂😁 lol
Soxs45 ·
@Ebonyhunni deal 😂
Ebonyhunni · 22-25, F
@Soxs45 yay

You are correct in that its possible to achieve that live style but why?
Ebonyhunni · 22-25, F
@JimboUk No i wouldn't get bored quickly. Everyone has a preference on how they should live their lives I learned that I do not prefer cities I do not prefer being in close quarters with so many people. I realized that i like being isolated and that all i really need is a garden and books. I went from trees to palms trees turf and sand.
JimboUk · 31-35, M
@Ebonyhunni I appreciate we are all different. We all find certain parts of life an wonder to behold. We are all unique in our own way but I can't see that lasting to be honest with you. Not on your own. You'd be denying certain natural instincts, we are social animals. The fact you are on this website is an good example of this. I find it interesting either way, hope you get to truly experience it and 60plus years from now you can say you proved me wrong lol.
Ebonyhunni · 22-25, F
@JimboUk thats why i welcome anyone who wants to do it with me hahah i like the way you think maybe my personality will change to more of a social butterfly as most accounts are mainly for promoting my cam sites i recently started using them to start socializing and while sometimes i meet the dingleberry heads of the world i do meet the sweethearts i enjoy those moments now.

Are you planning on having a generator of sorts (solar, wind, etc.) for electricity?
xixgun · M
@Ebonyhunni I have solar in Arizona. Last year my system produced 6196 kWh
lasergraph · 70-79, M
@xixgun Arizona is the right place for it. We have solar here too but the wind is a constant.
xixgun · M
@lasergraph WINDMILLS!
There's no such thing as "off the grid" you can get close but as long as you have your social security number you're never off grid
Ebonyhunni · 22-25, F
@Mistakesmakeus yeah i know :) i guess saying i only want to come into town when i need a hospital and tools woulda been better middle of nowhere livin😁
