The unit behind me is empty and the kitchen is being repaired, it will be rented for $3500.00 (one bedroom). And I’ve no doubt someone will snap it up, even with the pandemic.

@bijouxbroussard I hate what's been done to your city.

@bijouxbroussard It must be really nice to fetch that price!
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard $3500?! A month?! For one bedroom?! I don't care how good the location is, no apartment is worth that much.

SW-User
@FaeLuna $42,000 USD per year is a lot.
bijouxbroussard · F
@FaeLuna I totally agree, it’s ridiculous. I pay considerably less, only because I’ve been living here for about 25 years.
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@SW-User And that's just for rent! That's like two new cars a year for the same price as a one bedroom apartment! That's more than a lot of people earn a year!
bijouxbroussard · F
@RedBaron From the perspective of those who can’t afford to buy a home, it’s too high. 😳
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@RedBaron If it's too high for the residents, then its too high. Engineering the mass displacement of people so developers and landlords can make more money is shitty policy that makes the world worse.
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard Yup! Exactly this! I'm trying to buy a house, and I can barely afford what people want for a poorly maintained building on a tiny lot around here. I can't imagine sinking 2/3 of my income pre-tax on rent. It better be fully furnished with full food service for that price.

SW-User
@FaeLuna I guess I should be thankful. In American dollars I'm paying one seventh that figure for a two bedroom, and it's all inclusive.
