I Experienced Racism
It was almost the beginning of the school year and I was starting the 8th grade. My parents and I decided to stop by a Chinese restaurant to eat before going to my school. When we walked in the waitress was at the front, when she saw us, her smile disappeared and I knew right then we were not welcomed. I remember two sections of the restaurant a top floor and a bottom floor, she sat us at the bottom floor, which hadn't been cleaned and was messy. There was also a little boy (possibly her son) playing with some toys, while she took our order. She didn't seem to care at all the area we were in was dirty.
There weren't a lot of people, though I remember another family sitting on the top floor, where it was cleaner and well lit. My parents were not okay with it and so when the waitress came back they asked her, why did we have to sit where the floor is dirty? Why not where the other family was where it was cleaner. The waitress couldn't think of an answer. Nor did she relocate us, or apologize for not cleaning up. In the end my Dad got really mad and paid the meal in ones. I think he should have paid the meal with nickels, pennies, and dimes though. lol. It was the worst restaurant service I had to date.
