I Have Borderline Personality Disorder

Fuming. Are we to generalise all those with a limp, or all those who get a physical illness? Are they all the same? Two programs on TV this week where the 'perpetrator' is suddenly identified as having BPD. And they are prize nutters, manipulative, dishonest, attention seeking!
So that's us lot hey?
Why the hell do they not educate themselves a little more on real life experiences and less on the text book standardisation?
Hmm...I shall now climb off my soapbox

I think BPD challenges the competency of many practitioners in the field of psychology. Maybe why they highlight extreme symptoms and cases. I told my ex once I had BPD. After doing some online research he asked me would I write letters in blood and stalk him if he left me. It is unfortunate what these so called professionals help perpetrate the stereotypes

i agree with you on BPD stereotypes. Kristen Wiig plays a BPD patient off her meds and wins the lottery. it is funny as all get out but it made me sad that this is what Hollywood teaches us about mental illness.

when offered a spectrum, hollywood will ALWAYS depict the most extreme. Anything else doesnt have the shock value
