Quit that thought and start thinking of something pleasant
A thought can be changed. You have the power to push it away and replace it with something else. Takes practice and at some point it becomes automatic.
Born of ego, most scary thoughts cannot tolerate being laughed at.

I get that a lot having OCD.

I'd say try progressive muscle relaxation and also look at mindfulness.
