I Have Built My Walls So High That They Will Never Come Down

People like me - who've seen what I've seen and done what I've done - we don't get to have a future. Not really. We're never truly connected to anyone or anything. Everything is dulled. Everything is distant. We don't get to touch this world and feel it on the skin of our fingertips. Not like other people. If you're like me then you understand. If you're not, then you won't. That's okay.

Thanks - that's kind of you to say - but I am alone. I'm not alone in having gone through bad stuff and being in pain, but I am alone inside of the walls that are under my skin, between myself and the world.
