This shouldn鈥檛 even be discussed right now with so many businesses closing because of the lockdowns in various parts of the country. Business owners are going to have a hard enough time rehiring people at their current pay rate.
@JesseInTX It's not just the businesses going under, though that's bad enough.

It's also very thoughtless about people who are suffering from the effects of "Long Covid". These people may have had jobs right up until they got sick and are now unable to return to work because of their illness.

I've seen someone I love suffer though Covid19 and I know the pain of hearing that person plead to have the life that they had before they were infected back.

It kills me every time I get a message saying that they are exhausted - halfway through the work day or simply stating that they can't stay awake any longer because of the fatigue.

No one should ever feel that they have to work when they are clearly not fit enough to do the job.

@JesseInTX than when should we discuss it!!! Because all these taxes come out of my check for lazy ass people who want to sit on their asses at home for free government money.

@HootyTheNightOwl I agree that is an issue that needs to be addressed but I don鈥檛 consider it a part of the minimum wage discussion.

@SweetNSassy I鈥檓 happy to lend a helping hand to someone that needs it until they are able to get back on their feet. The problem there is the welfare system has been doing this for generations. Generations of families have played the system and there is no incentive for them to find work. Talking about raising the minimum wage is only going to make it that much harder for those that want to work to find work.

Oh and your taxes....they鈥檙e also going up like it or not.
@JesseInTX Why not??? Are they not working 0 hours per week??? Or is the money for their welfare payments raised in a different way than through taxes???

At the end of the day, the disabled and sick were lumped into the same pot - so it needs to be addressed, too.

@HootyTheNightOwl I did say it needs to be addressed. The minimum wage argument is for people who are working or hope to once again soon.
