Okay any people here that cook? I'm gonna make garlic sauce pasta but
My mum thinks that using 40 cloves is too much for one 400g (uncooked) of pasta. Is that true? I mean the recipe uses 20 for 1 cup pasta that's 100grams.

It sounds correct. Your mother is probably worried that it will be too much. Taste it after adding 30 cloves, and it will probably not be garlicky enough.
