I'm a hypocrite because I had a cat since I was 4 even though she longed passed away but I can see problems in having pets. The word pet is cringy because it suggests an animal like a human owns another animal. Even when I had my cat I didn't look at her as "pet," I looked at her as "Tiffy" the cat that owned at least half of my bed for such a small being.
On the argument of pets and animal sanctuaries, I get the idea that some are hypocrites from the pet standpoint but then others rescue animals who would otherwise go for poaching. With the rise of Chinese medicine which is a snake oil cure using animal parts, animals are also going extinct.
Some feel like this may be natural but I feel like it's not because it's based on delusions of grandeur for the most part. It's a search based off fear of death and driven by the egotistical need to be forever beautiful even though it doesn't actually do anything, essentially a delusion.
I feel like despite wild animals, people generally are ignorant even taking proper care for their cats and dogs. I notice many try to force their pets to go against their own instincts by not fostering as natural of environment as they possibly could.
Many people look at pets as if their tables or chairs and then blame the animal for the human animal's bad behavior. Some of these people really do love their animals but they don't see that they hurt them and that leaves a morally grey area of even owning pets to begin with.
