I Dont Understand People

Are people really so incapable of thinking for themselves they will adore and follow a celebrity just because they're famous? Not for any talent like acting or singing, not for any notable achievements, just because they're famous. It makes no sense to me how people can obsesses over celebrities like Kim Kardashian who are completely devoid of any notable skill or achievement outside of some stupid reality TV show and its numerous spin-offs.
