I Dont Understand People

I don't understand why the religious seem to think you need religion to have morals or faith in a higher power. So long as a person believes in god and has a good moral standing then what does it matter if they a follow a religion or not? I thought part of religion was about having morals and faith in god, so if one already has those then what do they need religion for? Especially if the religion has some inconsistencies and self-contradictions with its moral ideologies...

You appear to have the wrong idea at least of the Christian faith. It's not primarily about morality (although morals do come into it) but about a relationship with God. In any case, as an atheist, who decides morality? Logically if all is blind chance then logically any set of morals is equally valid?

and I was addressing atheism - if it is blind chance then morality is logically blind too! @Renikari:

@jennypenny: You told me I have the wrong idea of the Christian faith when I wasn't even specifically addressing Christianity. When some is addressing religion, they're not always just addressing Christianity, okay? There are more religions out there than Christianity.

How do you know? The Hindu has 30 million gods and the Cheistian one. They the same? @OWTFWN:

@Renikari: i said you had the wrong idea of the Christian faith. That was included in what you said. You really need to read what people actually put instead of making blind assumptions

@jennypenny: No, it wasn't! I made no specific mention of Christianity in my post. Even if I did, I never said the religion was primarily about morality. I said "I thought part of religion was about having morals and faith in god" So who's making blind assumptions here? Quit talking out of your ass.
