I Dont Understand People

I don't understand why the religious seem to think you need religion to have morals or faith in a higher power. So long as a person believes in god and has a good moral standing then what does it matter if they a follow a religion or not? I thought part of religion was about having morals and faith in god, so if one already has those then what do they need religion for? Especially if the religion has some inconsistencies and self-contradictions with its moral ideologies...

you do not need to believe in god to have good morals, i once observed a cheetah who was hunting for food to feed her cub, while she was away a python sneaked into her nest and swallowed her cub. when she returned to find her cub gone and in its place a python with a bulging stomach she quickly jumped on the python until it regurgitated her cub. she did not kill the snake she allowed it to slither off, she did not want revenge because it was simply doing what its genus has evolved to do all she wanted was to hold her baby one last time. how many humans can say they would do the same in her situation? and would they use gods all sinners guaranteed forgiveness policy as justification to kill the snake? because as far as we know a cheetah has neither a concept of final judgement from a higher power nor the capacity for our definition of humanity, only nature drives it. so where is god? is he in some book? does he ask us to obey or to spread his word? no, god is here with us, he has created us with his, shall we say "word" imbued into every cell in our bodies we need only to listen to ourselves in order to hear what the entity we call god asks of us, nature itself is my god and it does not require faith, its gospel is out there for all to receive.
