Would you buy a house near a major airport?

I wouldn't mind watching the jets fly overhead, but all that noise would probably be annoying at times. I know that here in metro Chicago, people who live near O'Hare airport have been fighting with the city for decades about the noise.

Full in lasting pleasures, not to be missed.

In those golden moments, a silver dart whistles across the roof line, ringing the city.
Thunder in trail, riding rooftops into the departure turn; it's a study of grace in motion. Put to an elegant soundtrack.

Opponents persist, but if you're a serious enthusiast and have no family to consider, it might be feasible.
Unless you're on the property line, keep in mind that engine technologies, and noise abatement procedure combine to reduce the impact on the ground. Most the traffic clearing our office building here, is seldom heard inside; and reduced to a melodic whine overhead.

I would not. I lived near one for two years, and when these beasts took off, we all woke up.

Why don't they only sell those houses to deaf people?

@uncalled4 Good question. Why would someone buy a house near an airport, knowing that the noise may be an issue, and then complain?
