Can you regulate your emotions? Or do they usually drown you?

If so, how do you regulate your emotions?

I embrace them.

Watching and listening to several masters of debate and discourse whose gift of the silvertongue and quick wit far exceed my own have helped me acquire some pretty damn reliable coping techniques :)

99 % of the time I am able to keep my emotions in check but the odd 1% can take over at times. I usually distract myself with work or the kids.

Both. I try to keep myself busy with work and physical exercise but I'm still a raging person on the inside.

I pay attention and let them go right on by. Emotions make life seem more solid and meaningful but it isn't. Nothing to lose your awareness in.
I guess I do.

I have my bad days.

I try to vent as much as possible.

@Umile18 yeah, me too. venting and writing helps a bit.
sometimes I have a handle on my emotions and there are days that I'm just lost and can't control anything

I try to, but it's not always easy.

The first step for me is determining where that emotion is coming from, or what's causing it in that moment.

Then trying to rationalize with it from there.

@blueumbrella All of those things are excellent!! Another thing that's helped me immensely is guided meditation. I use Headspace for ten minutes a day. Or more than once if it's a bad day. Incredibly good for calming nerves...

I'm sorry things are rough right now for you. Mental health can take a lot of maintenance. Hugs! ♡
