I was talking to my son recently about crap that's on my mind and he had a simple solution; that I just stop caring.
How do you do that? I don't have a clue how to get there.

Perfect solution. I just focus on things I can control. I'm not sure how to stop caring altogether but I do have certain cares that I prioritize and let the other things take care of themselves.
