I Am An Mra

News just in;

"Yes avfm ( a voice for men) is strongly opposed to marriage because the institution of marriage is nothing more than slavery for men. The same can be said for.having children. Father a child in this gynocentric feminist culture is about as smart as playing ba<x>seball with a live grenade. Marriage is worse. Most MRAs who aren't already married vow to never do so. This is why MRAs and MGTOWs are so close. We share that same philosophy."

This kind of puerile crap is exactly why the MRA is a hate group. It attacks fathers and marriage. What exactly does it stand for in a positive way, I wonder?

The idea that marriage is extremely emotionally physically and financially dangerous isn't new and isn't limited to the mrm. The song "thank God and greyhound" was released in 1970 and was ranked at #6 in the US and #2 in Canada.

The song "she got the gold mine I got the shaft" was released in 1982.
It made it to #1 in the US, #3 in Canada and #57 of all time.

These are songs that were popular in the US and Canada at the time they were released and are considered classics. That tells me the idea has been around for decades.

You are missing an important point.
Lets take a very stereotypical example of rape as an example. A man holds a gun to a woman's head and rapes her. The gun is what he used to force her to do.something against her will. The gun is what he used to take sex from her.
What does a woman use to take a man's assets, children and a majority of his future income? Her weapon isn't a gun its our legal system.
See the difference?
In the case of rape the crime is committed then our legal system gets involved. In the case of divorce the legal system is the one committing the crime.

What if a judge authorized a man to rape a woman? Metaphorically that what happens to men in divorce.
Rape:
The perpetrator makes a decision to take something by force.
The victim has an obligation as an adult to lessen the chances of becoming a victim. When all reasonable precautions have been taken and a rape occurs despite the best efforts of the victim then the victim shares no responsibility. However if a victim acts carelessly in regard to thief personal safety then this should be pointed out to them. However, the victims lack of regard for their personal safety in no way makes them less of a victim and in no way removes any blame what so ever from the perpetrator. All victims deserve the same amount of compassion and assistance.
Divorce.
Of course a person should try to prevent a divorce by marrying a person that won't divorce them or won't use the courts as a weapon. However that still doesn't change the fact that the victimization of divorce is caused by the state.
If laws were fair and equitable a sadistic and victims spouse couldn't use the state to perpetrate. Using the rape metaphor it would be like removing a rapists ability to rape before they ever could rape.
The problem is not with the vindictive spouse. The problem is with the court giving a vindictive spouse the weapons they can use to perpetrate.
See the difference.

Jack, you are just making things up now. Your view of a good divorce settlement is one which involves no alimony or child support award. Anything else you think is akin to legalised rape. Why shouldn't a father pay towards the cost of his child's upbringing? If he is married he has to do that, so why should a divorce relieve him of that responsibility. It's not about apportioning blame, it's abour taking personal responsibility for the children you have fathered. You seem to think a guy should be allowed to walk away from his responsibility. That isn't fair or right no matter how you look at it.
