I Hate Moving

Moved In At Last... As most of you know I recently had to move out of my company provided apartment as a live in position was no longer needed. Let me tell you, this has been one of my hardest moves ever.

To begin with, I've never had such a hard time finding a place. When I've needed to find a place before I'd usually look around a bit for a week or 2, apply at a couple places I liked and then get to choose between them.  This time around there were at least a dozen people applying for every place I went to check out. Add to this that I've had my own apartment for the last few years, and as such have an apartment's worth of stuff accumulated, but suddenly found I could only afford to rent a room. I also got my two cats a year or so ago, making the search for a place that much harder. By the end desperation had set in and I was looking at places that were nearly an hour's drive from work.

Then came that bright and shining moment when the Universe decided I had been tortured enough. I responded to an ad for a room very near where I work. The ad said to leave a message and she'd get back within a day or so. A few hours later she called back, and within a few minutes of talking to her I could hear in her voice she had made up her mind. The next day I drove out to look at her room for rent. It was tiny, but she gave me free run of the living room as well and she has a ton of storage space under the house too.

As soon as she and I started talking I could tell she was a great person and would make an awesome housemate and probably a great friend too. She helped me to move my stuff over and even helped me clean up my last place. We've been hanging out chatting almost every night since I moved in. It's kinda cool...she's 10 years younger than me and I apparently come off as 'wise' to her, so it's been a real ego boost there. The house is just 5 minutes from work and is in a beautiful setting out in the forest but only 2 minutes from civilization. It has lots of tree cover so it stays nice and cool in the summer. Being so close to civilization means the chance of a coyote or mountain lion being near the house is minimal...a good thing since both of my indoor cats are now wandering out the cat door in the house at have adapted quickly to being outside as well.

I do still have to start going through my stuff...it's right now in large stacks and piles in my room and the living room. I just need to sort it into what stays in the house, what gets stored under the house and what I'll be getting rid of (a sorting process that is long overdue really). The good news is she's as easy going as I am so I can go at my own pace to get it done. I do have reason to rush it though...my lovely and wonderful EP wife, DT, is going to be coming out in the near future so I do have to get the house under control kinda soon ;-)

I'm sooo happy to hear about your happy ending. Wow! Talk about another story where you got down to the deadline and woo la life just worked out... it's amazing how things just happen for a reason. And the location I am sooo jealous... this has to be better for you that apartment life?? It would be perfect... forest... close to civilization and work. Very, very happy for you! Nothing beats getting things done or cleaned up like company. Sounds like you have lots to look forward too! ;-)

It is better, for sure! Regular contact with another human being is a good thing....I hadn't realized how much I had isolated myself before. The location is awesome...I have enough trees in front of my bedroom window that I haven't bothered putting up a curtain yet. LIfe is good to be sure. I'm so happy I got it all worked out with enough time left to get things put in place before DT arrives too ;-) hehe

So everything works just fine for you now, you improved the live quality of your cats and DT will be with you soon.
All that makes me happy too. I like to read good news from good friends. :-)

I agree completely, Flirty...one of my co-workers knows my housemate and told me once that we may have each found the one person on earth that we can co-exist perfectly under the same roof with. ;-)
