Friendships can take a few tries to become solid, but they can be destroyed in seconds.. is this true?

Anything can be destroyed in moments. When it comes to the ways of humans, nothing is solid or a sure thing.
I agree to an extent. I think they defiantly can take a few tries to be solid and can be destroyed in seconds but I think the destroying part all depends on the friendship and how strong it is.

I had a really good friend who I knew from when I was 5. And he refuses to speak to me over a tiny mistake. Mistake might even be too strong a word for it

Only if the reason is because it is discovered that one party was actually a complete asshole. In which case there was no true freindship to begin with.

Very much so. It's more the trust that can be destroyed. Can't have friendship without trust.
