I was homeless for a span of two years. This was do to my parents evicting me the day after my 18th birthday.

During that time I would learn others are homeless primarily for one of two reasons. Either they thought buying drugs was more important than paying bills, or they believed jobs were a means of controlling the populace.

Then there were people who only played homeless to get sympathy and/or easy money.

@Sheer By choice they were like this. They were to be pitied but not sympathized.

@Sheer "Something has to be very wrong for a person to choose a life on the street"

That's what everything comes back to, isn't it? Choice. Everyone is well aware of what drugs do to you. Yet they CHOOSE to use. They knew from the beginning they're going to get addicted. And while sober they made that choice. I pity the stupid but I do not sympathize.

You want to talk about controlling people? How does relying on handouts equate to freedom? They need others to make a choice to help them or they'll die because they're too stupid to realize this fact. I pity the stupid but I do not sympathize.

With remarkably few exceptions, it all comes back to choice. A person makes a choice and they need to accept any and all consequences thereafter. There is no predetermined length of these consequences. There's no predetermined degree of these consequences. There is no predetermined time of these consequences.

This is how life is and you can either learn from it or suffer. In the end, it's still your choice to make.

@Sheer I can't account for your experiences, but in my two years I hadn't met a single genuinely mentally ill homeless. They either faked it or were just plain stupid.

And belief vs experience is a heavily one sided argument. Each and every homeless I've spoken with can recount a single moment where they made a choice that lead to where they end up.

"If only I said no."

"Maybe I should've listened to them."

"I should've taken that interview."

"I never should have quit my job."

You can blame circumstances and other people all you want but whether you believe it or not, choices are the source of all your pain and pleasure.

@Tython Why did your parents kick you out?
Tython · 31-35, M
@Madeleine I don't know. Didn't have time to ask.

@Sheer You've gotta stop assuming. You seem to say 'I think' a lot. Using your assumptions as an argument against what I'm telling you from personal experience. You think you know better than me because you want to? Who's the immature one on the scenario?

I know they faked because I camped with them. While begging they have physical ticks and speech impediments but when they weren't they were perfectly articulate. They even advised me how to fake it for better cash.

I'm done with this. You're clearly too stubborn to converse with and refuse to listen. Enjoy getting scammed.

@Sheer Yeah there's a learning curve involved. How much of this stuff is discussed in high school (say) on an everyday basis?

But then again how much of our raw insane everyday POLITICS is ever really confronted in our established institutions... school, church, the workplace...the family...??

It leads to a chaotic unfair and barbaric street mentality instead of the ability to COPE with the catastrophic social outcmes of our collective blindness...about Capitalism, about our love affair with Capitalism and our LOATHING of being wrong about the basic stuff of our lives...

Who ever learned in school that Capitalism is a choice and not written in stone?

OMG PLEASE THINK BEFORE ATTACKING ME 4 SAYING THIS. Its only a discussion forum.
