How would you define success?

Most people would define success as being rich, driving luxury cars and living a lavish lifestyle. However I strongly disagree with that. As a son of immigrant parents. My Dad came to this country about 3 decades ago. Worked 2 jobs to bring my mom, siblings and me to America. My parents raised 4 children into successful adults. They also managed to build a business and 2 huge houses in Africa, where they will retire to. I would also define that as success.
So would I. Even without the houses in Africa.

The meaning of success is going to be different for everyone. It's generally setting a goal and accomplishing it. Whether it is to become a doctor or professional fisherman, whether it's riches or serving the populace of an under privileged town in some needy country. It is truly subjective to whomever is looking at it for themselves. So where one person might see the teacher as poor, the teacher sees themselves as a success because they are helping someone get an education that might help them in their goals.

That's how I see it and yes, I'd say you're right, they are successful.

@MrPerditus1 Well said, Thank you
I don’t define success by material things except in terms of what is needed for security. A consistent roof over one's head, enough to eat, loved ones around and satisfying work would equal success to me. 🙂
