A Fool's End

I'm shedding my skin, almost all of the time
And it's worn so thin, I'm losing my mind.
Walking a mile with no shoes, no eyes,
No shelter for me, no hope in sight.

How did I get so low?
I don't think I can crawl anymore.

My scabbed knees, my poor sense of balance,
I'm my own worst enemy, my purveyor of malice.
So many vultures here, circling above my form
They can smell my fear, my pain, my scorn.

They peck at me, relentlessly, but refuse to let me die
They torture, the masochists, with such glee in their eyes.
I'm too dumb, too weak, too vulnerable to fight,
Probably mostly because, I think that they're right.

I'm an insufferable fool, with no hope in sight,
I won't be missed, when I leave here tonight.

I’m sure such words would be missed from the world
